5 sp manual question

The shifter on my 87 is really loose you have to feel around for the gears, it looks like the shifter is integral part of the tail housing... never worked on one like this ...are there bushings or something that have worn out or can it be repaired?
Thanks

The shifter is not a integral part. It unbolts, and yes, there is a bushing.

I don't remember if the 2nd gen is similar or not any more, but here is what a shifter rebuild on a FD looks like just to give you some idea. https://www.rx7club.com/3rd-generati...build-1072268/
