White smoke and sometimes a rough idle

So my beautiful disaster is a 86 na that i have been a proud owner for a year and a half. The car itself is very reliable always starts always runs good but just recently it has been sending white smoke out the exhaust. It use to only do it when for some reason it would stumble on the start and then a simple press of the gas would fix it. But now even if it starts well it will still smoke till i rev it at least past 4k. After that it will blow some smoke and will not smoke once its running. Up until yesterday the idle was fine always at 750-800 rpm at idle, but around every 2-4 seconds it would backfire at idle drop a bit and go back to normal, i was driving and during acceleration is has no problem what so ever, just at idle. Could it be a leaky injector?? Too much fuel?? A sensor?? Too much oil in or around spark plugs?? What problems could i encounter if i keep running it?? Any help will be greatly appreciated especially since im trying to take my fc and meet up with all the rotaries at sevenstock

Try a compression check first to rule out anything internal

Also I see you have adequate posts to post in the Main SEC GEN Specific Section,so in the future please do.
This section is mainly for NEW members to post and get their feet wet so they can move on when they get their post requirements in order.
Thanks.

Alright misterstyx69 ill know for next time, and I wont be able to do a compression test till in a few days, but now the smoke only comes out sometimes and once fully warm it will idle normal. So the rough idle is only for the first 3 mins after a cold start, and then its normal. Could it be a problem with the warm up cycle??

Sounds like it might be burning water, itll cause misfires, white smoke and rough starts. The rough starts come from the car sitting and water entering the housing while its sitting building up once all the water is pushed/burned out itll run better.

Is the smoke white white or greyish blue?

The smoke that comes out is white white but the smoke seems to have gone down a lot, and know if it has a weird start just a press of the accelerator and then the revs even out, and idles like it should be. I know that I do have a leak but have had one since I bought the car a year and a half ago but the water consumption of the engine is very little and have to refill the overflow about once every week and a half, and has not gotten worse. I also drive the car a lot, work, school, long drives on weekends.

Might be your water seals bud. You don't want to let the water sit in the engine for long periods of time of course because it will probably rust it up. Id drive it like hell and save up money for a rebuild kit.
