What to use on engine water seals?
 

I've heard Hylomar, but what type of it? Medium blue? I've also looked at Loctite 5922 Permatex. And how to use it? Just take a syringe and lay a string in the bottom groove, then put some on top of the seals?
I know MazdaTrix has, but ordering just a tube from them and wait a week ++ to get it to Norway isn't that appealing.

Other stuff I need for assembling an engine, or just use vaseline/grease on the other o-rings and seals?

Looking at the specs of Loctite 5922, it seems to be designed for low pressure exposed areas. Since it dries through solvent evaporation, one could assume that it will never quite dry inside the engine.

Hylomar really isn't avaialble in the form we used to buy, and the new stuff sucks. If you can find it, you want the "Universal Blue Sealant". Atkins Rotary also sells a "fake" hylomar which does the job, it is just a pain to work with because it kind of dries. Real hylomar doesn't really dry.

If your housing and irons are free from pits, then just Vaseline or a few dabs of RTV will keep the coolant o-rings in place.

Use assembly lube on the bearings and iron friction surfaces, and then Vaseline to hold all the seals in place.

I'm not sure how this may differ from the "old" hylomar, but I've used the Hylomar that Racing Beat sells with no issues.

I've heard of guys using CRISCO shortening. I'm guessing with that, you'd want to assemble in a cool enviroment. But supposedly it smells like french-fries on first start-up.

i used vaseline during my build. cause that's basically all ur doing is making sure they stay in place during assembly.
