I highly, highly recommend any ECU besides the Microtech. If you have another choice, Haltech, Megasquirt or any other more modern ECU.

The Microtech is archaic and really only suited to the most basic track car. It can't do closed loop AFR control, can't operate an idle valve, has horrid software, doesn't allow you to save maps to disk, has fixed I/O, a terrible distributor based ignition model, horrible interpolation, poor light load resolution and a host of other issues.

First of all u the Aaron that has the 87 Cosmo. Build videos on YouTube

Second : I ran this Ecu all last year. Stock fresh rebuild stock turbo making 253 to wheels and I honestly had 0 issue with it there is a shop out here that tunes my car who bleed microtech and I can't afford the cost of a new standalone this year. By next year I am hoping to up grade thanks for the input

Yes, that is me.

If the Microtech works for you, then go for it and enjoy the car.

Except the Microtech doesn't have fine enough resolution to make those injectors worthwhile. Nor does it have the injector trims necessary to adjust the ECU to the data supplied by ID.

^ This.

Just for clarification, when Aaron wrote "really only suited to the most basic track car" he means something like a drag car that only needs to operate efficiently at idle and wide open throttle. In this case, the Microtech products work just fine. Race cars that benefit from responsive part-throttle operation (autocross, drifting, road racing, rally, etc.) would be better off with a more advanced EMS and professional tuning. However, I firmly believe that tuning is the most important aspect, so I would typically recommend sticking with whatever you our your tuner can use to accomplish your goals. What matters most is whether or not you are happy with the car's performance.

A good tuner can achieve about 30mpg at highway cruise without closed-loop. The ability to save maps is nice, but honestly one good map will work for all situations.

Thanks guy I appreciate the info and I have been wanting to upgrade my Ecu just isn't in the card this year next year with the new ported n rebuild s5 im working on . Aaron Id like to say thank U for taking the time to post the teardown and rebuild videos very helpful .
For the small amount of power and the fact that the guy who tunes my car all they tune with pretty much is microtech I feel comfortable with spending another season on this Ecu again thank u for all the info I'll be doing more research into Ecu's come the coming years

Correct me if I am wrong but you're talking about ForceFed? I have a friend who had hist car built in house, using Injector Dynamics and Microtech with WaterMeth. Give them a call and tell them what you're looking for out of the car and see what they recommend. They built his car to be hell on wheels.

Yea I'm talking about forcefed and yea ill prob give me a shout but 720cc prim and secondary is what's I'll be going with. Making 253 with 550cc 's so 720cc should get me to 300 with ease
Thank

Not saying the ID injectors won't work, just that with the terrible resolution of the Microtech and inability to trim injectors, the premium spent on them is wasted when regular old Bosch EV1 injectors will do the job reliably and bolt right in.

I speak from experience. My own RX-8 (sadly) runs an LT8s. Though only until I get time to replace it with an ECU that doesn't suck.
