What to do while engines out of the car?

Hey everyone! I'm looking at an RX7 roller right now that will need an engine/trans. I've found a really clean engine for sale that I'll be putting in it, but the miles on it are unknown. If/when I get the roller, it'll be getting a full respray and then pieced back together. My question to you all is, while the engine is out is there anything that should be done? Anything that would be much more of a pain with it back in the car? Thanks!

If its been sitting for who knows how long, i would change all the bushings, full fuel system overhaul, new radiator hoses, and anything else that seems iffy.

may as well rebuild the engine if theres no idea on history of it, I'd rather put the engine in once, not twice

There’s PLENTY of how tos for rebuilds now a days. I’m in the process of rebuilding, porting and tuning. I would set a game plan of what you want out of the car. There’s a lot of parts and it can quickly add up. Are you going for a stock build or looking to build a modded one?

Personally, I'd get the engine bay re-sprayed too. I did that with my FD, and I'm glad I did. It's so nice having a clean shiny paint engine bay.
Depending on what your goals are, you could also use this time to shave/plug any holes in the bay to clean it up some.
