Water/coolant in rad missing after 20 degree weather

Found a lot of gas in the oil due to flooding, but than fully I never ran her more than 20 or so min and put oil down the carb.. :uh: without a thermo... but not driven and new thermo has been ordered. But the main issue I have is the missing cool coolant. All the antifreeze in the block was still there mostly undiluted since I added strait water on top in the rad. When I bought the car it was dry as well, so I think this was a past Issue. In the past 3ish month I've got the car running with 170k on her and sitting for six year. So I hope I havent fucked up again..

The only way that you can get to the root of this problem is to run the car and check for leaks or pressure test the cooling system.
Other than that your problem is just too vague to even attempt to give you any solution.

Will report back in the next few weeks, once she's running again. Just to be clear you do need a thermo for the 12a do to the cooling passages correct?

For the cooling system to effectively work then YES you need a thermostat.

If the coolant can't absorb heat then it will flow over the hot engine parts and not cool it effectively. The Thermostat acts like a valve and keeps the system closed when the eengine is cold so that it can warm up,then the thermo opens to get rid of the heat.
That is why the thermostat is heat range specific.Opening at say 185.
After that the coolant gets to flow to the rad and dissipate the excess heat it has absorbed and go back to the engine to grab more heat..
..cycle begins..

For those who say "ya don't need one of them there things" are really not the guys who you would want o come and start working on your car.
If they do not understand the way that Shit works then you don't want them near a car that is not of the "normal Variety" vehicle..(my rant,..so If you dont agree..tough..call DR Phil.)

A friend helping me said it would screw up the engine if I kept it in, do to it running hot the first time we got it started. I've since learned that rotaries run hot and ect. Thanks for the confirmation

If they were not meant to have a thermostat they would not have made a Thermostat for the engine or a place to put that particular part.
You are on a Rotary Car Forum now.
We all have friends that like to think that they know it all,but in here you can get the straight scoop from 100 thousand guys.So if this Friend of yours knows Your car better than the amount of people that actually have this type of car,He should be known in this Rotary based world as being a freakin Genius.
Not just ONE guy can tell you everything you need to know, that is why we have the Club. You get it from all sides.
By the way,I learn shit every day so I am not speaking for everyone.I just speak of what I know.you asked I replied.Simple and easy.
..and I know Thermostats..do not buy STANT..get an OEM replacement.

Thanks lol I actually ordered a thermo from Mazdatrix along with braided lines, and a "standard" carb rebuild from ebay after seeing recommendations from this site. The night I found out about the gas in the oil I ran
To autozone and got 4 quarts of 20w50 "Texas is hot as balls" filter and coolent. My friend was telling me to sell it as soon as I can turn it on and off, so this is kinda behind his back, but I know it can pass inspection, and is solid aside from the pass doors with a rust hole, the body is pretty solid. It's grown on me and my car..and as much I hate it somedays I still love my shitty little 82 GS for some masochistic reason heh. I'll start coming here for after the rebuild kit/thermo are in.
