vacuum issue/ how do i check my fuel pressure?
 

car is an S4 TII streetported by banzai

someone told me i have to remove the UIM in order to check my fuel pressure :scratch:
then a guy told me i need to check it with the car running and not running. we tested the vacuum and the car is running extremely lean, will start, but will not idol longer than 5 min. then wont start up after that unless let to sit for about 30 min.

the only time we can get a good vacuum is when we hold the revs at 2000rpm.

You can check fuel pressure by using a T fitting to connect the gauge to the feed from the fuel filter to the fuel rail. You don't need to remove the manifolds.

Do a compression test and verify that the guy you bought it from didn't hurt the engine running 10psi on the stock injectors and fuel pump. I think I know who you bought it from, is his name Chuck? Has some sort of car lot? We built the shortblock for him and he and his pal did the conversion and install. How much vacuum is it pulling at idle?

The reason I say do a compression test is that he called us earlier this Spring saying the engine was making no compression, this was after it was running great last year during the break-in, then he decided to go WOT without upgrading the fuel system. We never heard back from him after that call..

i bought this turbo s4 vert from a kid named Cory, he said he had the conversion done by someone else, but he never mentioned who...
he did however mention that the car was working fine before this spring, after he took it out of storage is when he claims the problems arose.

would you be able to tell by pics? or if i can find the vin# on the engine?
i had drove the car home, and the engine was running, nothing seemed blown.
there just isnt enough vacuum to idle :(
i HOPE i didnt just get screwed over...

and theres practicly no vacume at idle, it goes up the standard vacuum levels when reved to 2000rpm, but will die out soon after start.
then the car wont start up again until about a half hour later...

There is not a vin# on the block. What is the color combo of the engine? The guy didn't give you any receipts/invoices? How do you know it is one of our engines?

Check the turbo inlet duct to make sure it is not damaged or loose. Some of what you are describing sounds like the TID is not secured to the turbo or has a huge crack. However doing a compression test at least rules out that the engine is the issue.
