Which tyre size in Front? 235 or 255??!!
 

Hello,

I am searching a long time for an answer but i didnt find anything. I have in someweeks my fd and iI need Newrims and tyres.

It will be a daily car and for track use and soft time attack too! It will be 17" rims. I think it is the Best combination between Performance and styling.

But which tyre size? The Stock Rs have 235 255r. Is it the Best Option? Or is for track booth with 255 better?

I think Mazda have the Best idea to Do something or? Which Setup is faster? I am A little Bit frightend that it will be to much oversteer.

Anyone Haß experience and can help me?

i let this thread through because your question does have some technical merit to it, but you should provide some clear information (size, offset, etc.) of the wheels you're getting. that should help people help you better.

Not sure about 235 width, but you will need a minimum of +48mm off-set for 255 on a 17 inch tire WITHOUT fender rolling. And probably aftermarket (smaller dia. springs) coilover shocks as well. Stock height should be no problem, but adjustable height coilovers would be helpful as you should be able to go a bit lower. Some databases suggest that 265 REAR width is possible WITHOUT fender rolling with that wheel size and off-set, but no personal experience. Over steer is a possibility, especially with anything stiffer than the stock front sway bar. I really hate oversteer, especially since, at least for me, it's hard to tell when the rear is getting close to the limit. I think I'd first try 235 front/255 rear on compounds.

Also...with R compounds, especially in 235 or 255 width, you're almost certain to have issues with the front sway bar mounts breaking. Racing Beat makes a reinforcement bar and there are sources for stronger sway bar mounts. ---> https://www.mazdatrix.com/h93-95b.htm

I have at the Moment no rims, and I know the Problem with the offset and the springs. I would like to buy a coilover with small springs ( i dont now which is the Best with a very progressive suspension but this is a later topic).

When i get the Same width Front and rear my rims are exactly. The Rs has got 8J and 8,5J rear.

But what is nun better for fast (and safety) driving?


Thanks for the links with the mounts. I would like to buy something of these Parts. Later a complete rebuild of the bushing (but at the end of 2015).
