Turbo oil return... need some advice please :)

hey i seem to have a small oil leak, & it appears to be coming from the oil return flange on the primary turbo (nearest one to the air filters)
can anyone please give me some advice for the best way to deal with this?:Wconfused

could it be a case of just tightening it up, or would i have to replace the gasket?:Wconfused

also how on earth do you get to the damn thing??

your help would be much appreciated
thankyou
Mike:)

you usially get under the car and you can get a real good look at it.

There are two oil returns. There is one on the back side of the motor, and one on the front. There are two 10mm bolts on each one if I remember correctly. I would try just cranking them down a little, but if the leak is severe I would get some new gaskets. It shouldn't be that hard if you can get under the car. You could always go with some hi-temp silicone for a ghetto approach, but I don't know how long that will last.

I would go ahead and replace the gaskets myself, but it's up to you

Good luck,
-John

thanks for your help, im going to try cranking the bolts down a little, as it is only a small leak, it is the oil return at the front turbo, i can get to one of the bolts from under the car, but the other one is hidden by the subframe & other things, so i will try it from under the bonnet

cheers :)

i don't think tightening them further will solve the problem. at best it will be a bandaid solution. i'd replace the gaskets.

yea your right :( cranking them down a little didn't work, im going to have a go at replacing the gaskests, think i will do all three on that oil return pipe, thanks for your help everyone :)
