Trailing coil pack not firing
 

i have an 88 n/a rx7 with a jspec T2 swap i just put in and i fixed alot of issues with it and now im on the last one that i cant figure out my trailing coil pack is not firing like its supposed ot it only fires once in a while and ive changed the coil pack and the bracket its on(original was broken)...the weird part was that it only started doing this once i changed batterys the old battery i had was bad and could only jump starter to start it but need help been trying to figure this out for the last month

Did you check all the wiring?

ya all the wiring is good double checked everything the only thing i can think of is the ecu might be the problem

At the trailing coil there is a four wire plug which has a Blue/Yellow wire. W/key to on and the engine turned over by hand this wire should have 5 volts and then briefly 0 volts in a repetitive, repeated manner. This signal comes from the ECU to fire the coil. The Brown/Yellow wire should have about 4.4 volts w/key to on and 2.2 volts when idling. The Blue/Red wire should have less than 2 volts when idling. And the coil/igniter receives its ground by being mounted to the fender, so make sure this contact is both clean and secure.

how do you know the trailing coil is kicking on and off? is the tachometer erratic?

If you are just using a timing gun to see if it is firing or not; remember, the inductive pickup on timing guns can have a hard time picking up the trailing coil.

and leading as well.

if the tach isn't dying out intermittently then you don't have an issue with the trailing coils.

Satch I'm going to make sure I get the correct volts when I get a chance to get a day off of work and the contact was cleaned before I put the new mounting bracket on

I did it the easy way just pulled the spark plug wire from the pack and cranked it will spark one the first try and try and start and than just stop sparking and crank again and no spark

No spark in trailing pack and no fuel priming
 

I have an 88 n/a rx7 with a jspec T2 swap i just put in i am also using the n/a harness and i fixed alot of issues with it and now im on the last one that i cant figure out my trailing coil pack is not firing like its supposed ot it only fires once in a while and ive changed the coil pack and the bracket its on(original was broken) and not only that my fuel pump doesnt prime it only does it when i open the flap on the map sensor some guy my friend talked to said he know exactly what the issue is and an ez fix but i tried talking to the dude and he isnt talking but im thinking it could be something with the wiring and its not a ground ive checked and cleaned any possible grounds this is my 3rd time posting this hoping somebody can give me some help my rx been down for the past 4 months cause of this issue

I merged your new thread with the old one as it appears to be the same issue.

The fuel pump doesn't prime w/key to on unless you have the fuel check connector jumpered or the flap to the AFM opened. And with respect to the trailing coil, what voltage values did you get on the relevant wires?

im having an issue with the leading coil pack, i have power with the black/white possibly yellow wire, but theres another wire i think its was green with a stripe that has no power, the trailing coil pack has power coming from both of these wires, my trailing coil pack gives spark, my leading gives no spark.... ideas?

I'm also getting spark every 3 turns of my crank angle sensor Idk what's wrong grounds are good CAS and coils are good relays click on
