TPS adjustment
 

So im not yet convinced its a water seal so I am in the process of checking over the TPS to see why it idles goofy. While im about to mess with the TPS I came across this.

The bolt is holding the two butterfly valves open. Could this be a possible idling problem?

Yes it could be ya should find out why its doing that.

That is where ya problem is see why its doing it,might be something jamed in it or rusty sticky,spray some crc spray into it or some sort off lube.

Just be carefull when ya do this tho,dont wanna push junk into ya engine.

They should be closed when engine is not running.both off them

Can you take a better picture from a different angle?

well the bolt i circled in red is tightened against the butterfly valve opener to keep the valves open. ill get another picture here shortly

Those butterflies are often removed or forced open. They stay partially closed until the car warms up to prevent driving hard on a cold engine. People who remove them simply take it easy on the gas until the car warms up. If I were you, I would just properly remove them rather than keeping them forced open. You need to drill out the two screws holding the plates in and the bar comes right out. Buy a double throttle block off plate and properly seal the plate with rtv.

Yeah, the secondary throttles are either removed or held open by some. That shouldn't be effecting your TPS at all as it operates off the primary throttle.

okay that sounds about right as i just saw a post in the FAQ that people keep em open or remove. Here is another. while trying to figure out the TPS i removed the black reading that has the spring, is their any trick to reinstall the TPS sensor? i either get massive bucking with not control of throttle or an instant redline.

I second removing the double-throttle plates entirely/properly and getting a block-off plate. But that will require you to remove the upper intake manifold (UIM). I think there's also a FAQ link on how to do that if you need it.
