Torque wrench size

I've been looking at torque wrenches for a while and neither I or my roommate have one. Wondering if I should get a 1/2 inch or 3/8 inch drive on it. Tips appreciated, we've got a few projects to work on right now and I'm trying to source a decent FC project so the wrench will be use on multiple cars.

I would recommend that you get both if possible. Sometimes you'll need a long 1/2" that you can really put some muscle into while other times you'll find that you need something that you can fit into tighter spaces and torque to smaller amounts with. If it's one or the other, buy a 1/2" that can at least go up to 150 ft lbs.

I'm reading that the flywheel needs 350 ft lbs
Is there a cheater way to go about this that's safe or should I just get one that goes that high?
I'll ask if his boss has one we could borrow since I surely won't be rebuilding engines all the time.

In reality, you can just use a good 18” or 24” breaker-bar and put your back into tightening the FW nut and hub nut with no air tools. It would be damn difficult to over-tighten. You just don’t want to under-tighten.
Still, IMO you need both sizes for an engine build.

I'll keep that in mind
Luckily I have access to a shop, planning on doing my first engine build in the next month or so. I'll probably make a thread about it when I do so that y'all can give me some tips.
