Too much afterburner/backfire.

So I purchased an 89 Turbo II last year when I was stationed in Japan. The mechanic out there taught me a little bit but not enough to manage on my own.

I was driving down the highway the other night coming back from a meet with a few buddies and my car started to shake and backfire extremely bad. I was still able to drive it as long as I didn't push it but after I made it through the gate onto base my buddy said that I was shooting straight fire for at least a mile or two. Now every time I start my car it shakes and idles really low, also it'll backfire almost immediately. I can't share a video for better explanation. But any and all help would be amazing!

Sounds like the motor popped, compression test it first and foremost
