temp gauge
 

My temp gauge does not work on my 88 rx7.I drive it all day and it never goes up stays down the whole time.Don't know if I am overheating.Help please.Run's great idle's great no smoke.

Thats the same thing with my 88. Ill drive it all day and it goes up about an 8th of the way and then it stops. Mine ildes good and no smoke.

probably best to just get a aftermarket temp gauge

Ive gone through 2 gauge clusters already and both temp gauge and boost gauge is faulty

well if your running without the most basic and important gauge, hence the temp gauge you should not drive your car until thats fixed. make sure you hae the temp gauge connected at the engine and double check your grounds coming off your wiring harness

i got that problem too but mine will move when turning over but as soon as it starts the gauge wont move anymore so i just put in an aftermarket

Check that the water temp sensor is plugged in. It's a female bullet connector underneath the oil filter on the rear iron.

You can also take out the instrument cluster, remove the screws that ground the gauge into the PCB, clean them up and put them back. If none of this works, it's probably a bad gauge.

i have an 89 n/a that does the same thing, although after i've run it, if i let it sit for a sec and turn the key to acc it goes up because the coolant isn't circulating.

then again, i don't know if having a koyo matters much in this.

in my FD the temp gauge is of absolutly no use to me. it will only tell you that you are overheating, and then its too late. just get a aftermarket gauge and it will give you a really accurate reading. My PFC tells me what temp im at si i dont have to worry. you can get a water temp gauge from prosport for $35 to $55. i have a digital prosport boost gauge and i love it. either that or you can get a autometer gauge for about the same price.

Aftermarket is the way to go. As i 've seen and heard, the stack sensor has three displays, cold, warm and time for a new engine.
