T2 swap problems

I have an 88 vert that instaled the drive train from a 87 T2. after it ran but had the gage problems that you get with a T2 engine harrness. I was able to get all of the gages working right and pulled the smog equipment off at the same time.
The car started up but smoked and ran bad. Pulled it back apart and found the plug on the back of the water pump disconected. Installed a N318 AFM and a 255LPH fuel pump. Now it will nt start. The fuel pump is not running and I can not find a yellow two wire plug in the engine compartment. I ran a jumper wire to the pump plug and it would run, but still no start. Checked all of the fues and they were good. Any ideas were to go from here. I feel like I'm going the wrong way.
Thanks
Sheldon

If the new AFM is bad, the fuel pump will not turn on. The flapper door switches the circuit opening relay (under dash), which allows power to the pump. The FSM has resistance tests for the AFM, if you want to check it before trying a replacement.

I do not think the fuel pump was working befor I installed the AFM but I will run the test. Any Idea why I would not have the yellow plug for testing the fuel pump?
Thanks
Sheldon

Someone may have cut the plug off for some reason. It should be right by the boost sensor. If you check the fuel pump wiring diagrams, you can at least find out the wire colors. Then maybe you can find them, if the plug is missing.

Also, another simple test for the AFM (besides resistance values), would be the prop the door open on it & turn the key to 'ON'. The pump should run, if the AFM is working.

The other thing to consider is that the AFM is wired to the engine management harness (which is now TII), then it connects to the front harness, which has the circuit opening relay. In order to make the TII harness work properly with the front harness, you had to rewire the EM -> F plug. I'd go over all the changes made there to be sure the wire between the AFM and circuit opening relay is connected.
