Suggestions for AutoX Tires?

I am planning on autocrossing my 87 FC Sport this year at Milwaukee's SCCA Solo at Miller Park. I am looking for a good summer tire that can also be used on the track. Money is a little tight right now so I can't buy slicks and a separate set of wheels. I have a 5 lug with a tire size of 205/60/15 (could look at a lower profile). Does anyone have a good experience with summer tires?

I've had good luck with the Yokohama Advan Neova AD08s and the Falken Azenis RT.

I had a friend that ran Yokohamas awhile ago, he said they were really good for performance and street. Last time I looked though, they were pretty expensive. I haven't seen or heard much about the Falkens, I'll have to take a closer look at them. Thanks for your input!

Yeah, I have heard a lot of good things about the Dunlop Direzza Star Specs from some of my autox friends. The problem is that I can't seem to find them in a 15 inch size. I have a friend who's looking to get rid of some wheels that would fit my FC, so I'll see what size those are. Thanks!

Are there any street legal drag slicks that can fit on a 90 gxl fc without rolling fenders or tubbing rear ?

tricky, you could run DOT-R tires
They are street legal, used for autocross and what not and come in use able sizes
it would really depend how much grip you need

If you have to stay with stock tire size, personally I think I'd look for an inexpensive street tire with as low wear (UTQG) rating as I can find. You're going to be scrubbing them up and wearing them out pretty fast in autox anyway.
Looks like in 15" size for your rims the choices are somewhat limted. And on your rims in the PAX classes the difference in performance between expensive and inexpensive is going to be very small. So cheap is good and you can put your money toward a set of dedicated rims and 'R' compounds next year. :)

Looks like if you go with a 50 aspect ratio you get a few more choices in the Summer Performance class. Probably better turning response too. But your speedometer will be off some.

Used to have good luck with Kumhos and Falkens back in the days I used to auto x.

Are there any roads about which you may say that are lawful so that you can fit on a 90 gxl fc without moving front or back bumpers . .

Loved my Falken Azenis RT615's. Incredible grip as long as they stay within their operating temperature range

Sgtblue knows the deal.

I hear nitto nt01 are very good for that. I personally have nitto nt05 and they're great. I'm on the street but they're awesome.
