sudden loss of power or so it feels?

First off this is for my 88 Rx7 motor has 70k miles.

whenever i get on it, right above 4k I have this slight feel of power loss like im barely even moving. if i shift to another gear it still does the same thing.
I have replaced numerous things to try and troubleshoot this.

Starting at, Fuel filter, fuel pump, fuel lines and hardlines, along with my plugs and wires. I have replaced all of these in the past two months.
Not to sure what was done to the car before i got it, but im not trying to replace everything to solve one issue..

Thank you for any help in advance.

Sounds like the 5th/6th ports are seized up

I have been fearing this as the worst case scenario... lol

Worst case? Why? Its easy, theres 2 ways you can tackle it

Pour some MMO in the spark plug holes liberally and turn the engine over by hand for a week or so, and while doing that try moving your actuators by hand

If that doesn't do it, take the intake assembly off and free everything up that way

2nd option has better success rate

worst case scenario is it blows up and you have a big aerodynamic lawn ornament.

well this is true. im just going to take the intake off clean and paint the intake. thanks for the help guys.

get everything freed up and hopefully abolish that issue.

Have you thought about the 26 year old catalytic converter yet?

SpeedyX7 11-13-16 02:07 PM

Check the TPS. If it is unplugged, the car will fall flat at 4K RPM under throttle.

SpeedyX7 11-19-16 11:19 AM

that would make sense. if its plugged in, could it be a bad TPS then?
