Stuck throttle
 

I recently replaced my clutch line because it was leaking, but when I started the car it was idling at 3000rpm. Prior to the clutch line replace everything was fine so i quickly blipped the throttle in hopes that it would cause the rpm to come down to a normal idle. Instead the rpm went up to 4000rpm and stayed there. I quickly shut off the car and inspected the gas pedal for binding. That seemed to be fine so I checked the throttle cable to make sure it was moving freely, but that also seemed to be in working order. Has anyone had a similar problem, or a possible solution?
I am going to pull out the throttle cable tomorrow to clean it and lube it in hopes that it will help, but is there anything else that could have gone wrong?

Sounds like you pinched something there

You may have ended up re-routing one of the cables, which is causing some binding. Check the throttle cable, hot start assist cable, and cruise control cable.

Or, alternatively, disconnect all cables from the carb and see if it still does it....

I haven't taken out any of the cables yet so what ever happened must have either failed by coincidence right after i replaced the clutch line or I accidentally disconnected something maybe? I don't have a carb though, it's a 93' rx7

I'm having the same problem with my '87 TII. I was out driving a couple days ago, and noticed the idle was around 2k. A day or two later, and now its at 3k. Any suggestions?

First check for binding like the other guys here stated, but what my problem turned out to be is the CAS. Somehow the wires to the sensor got cut so I had to resolder them and everything worked fine. To make sure your CAS hasn't failed, take out your EGI fuse and crank the car. Your tach should bounce just a little bit. If it doesnt then that is your problem.
