stuck front brake calipers from sitting 2yrs. Anything special?

My rx7 runs and drives but the front brake calipers are majorly dragging. The previous owner hadn't driven the car in 2 years. I was able to drive the car around the neighborhood but smelled brakes and brought it back to the house. I can barely push the car by hand in neutral and can see the front brakes are still grabbing.

Other than just taking everything apart and checking for sticking parts and trying to compress the calipers to free them up, is there anything known about these that makes them stick? I will get rebuilt calipers when I start driving the car regularly but I am going to try to unstick them just so I can take the car on some local runs. The brakes do apply and stop the car fine but just won't let go up front.

Thanks

STeve

Normally I just stomp on the brakes a bunch of times, anything to shock the system back to life.

You are already on the right track by replacing your calipers. It may also be a good idea to just go ahead and replace the pads and rotors as well.

Rockauto had US-remanufactured loaded calipers with new pads and brackets and all hardware, on closeout for $27 each (cheaper than even the unloaded A1 cardone crap). The closeout calipers were Beck Arnley. I also got a front US-made Wagner rotor for about 20 bucks on closeout at Rockauto. Good quality stuff for the price of chinese crap. Gotta love it. We can stop now!
