start to a v8 fc

Starting to gather everything for the build, but wondered if I should use oem ls harness and ecu or buy a stand alone kit?
Any info would be greatly appreciated

That is really an LS question rather than an RX-7 question. Try asking in our V8 forum, or on one of the LS internet forums.

Personally, I would just buy a V8 car rather than spending all that time and money converting an old RX-7. There are sooooo many good used V8 cars that you can buy for cheap. Gotta love the USA.

laggyb, there is so much information out there available.
I'd say go for it. The thing with getting other old V8 cars is that they are heavy and anything from the 80's is ewww slow.
An FC with an LS would be the opposite, which is fast.

As for the harness and wiring that's where a ton of people fall apart.

You will be using the LS engine harness of course, and then you will put that into play with the existing mazda harness. I've done a few swaps in my time and made wiring harnesses for many cars. My FD has an LS in it. I'd say the best bet is to rewire the car completely, the harness will be very old, so starting from the ground up is best. I'd go fresh a LEASH street strip board, but there are tons of options man. All I can say is do your schoolwork first and don't do a hack job on the wiring.

Thank you
Ya wiring is the only thing I am worried about but have found some one locally that can help me with that aspect of it. Ive had the worst of luck with rotary motors (I beat the hell out of them) I think a v8 is going to be perfect and well worth it in the end.
