Standalone Wiring question

So... I have a microtech LTX-8 standalone to be installed on my "new" FC turbo. Unfortunately, the previous owner hacked the engine harnesses and some of the cabin wiring.

I had been told that building my own harness would be the best route at this point, however I am not too sure how feasible this is. In addition to this I still have the hacked cabin wires to worry about. Does anyone here, have any experience wiring in standalone units? Do I have about the correct idea or are there some crucial bits that I need to know:Wconfused ?

You should be able to get a flying lead from microtech. THen you wire that up to the engine components.

As far as the other wires in the cabin, you will have to get a FSM and a wire diagram to figure out what all is what.

All microtech seemed to offer was a wiring loom for an FD. It had nothing pre-made for my FC (tho I may email them about this). I already have the wiring diagrams, but since I have to bounce back and forth between the car's (S5 NA) the engine's (S4 Turbo) and the aftermarket ecu's it's pretty confusing.

Also what is an FSM? (sorry.... m n00b)

Factory Shop Manual.

I am not talking about a wiring loom pre-made.

You need one that is generic and will work on any car. Then you will have to trace all of the wires and solder them in to sensors you want to run.

For example, the loom you buy will say something like - Blue/White Wire is TPS Signal Wire, Green/Red wire is the TPS +5V wire.... blah blah blah
Then you have to solder those wires into the tps unit to the correct wire.

Sweet, thanks! I'll look into this...

One other unrelated thing... I recently had the misfortune of having the turbo for my S4 motor stolen! As much as this sucks I figured it would be a good opportunity to upgrade a little bit, so I was wondering if any of you guru's know if I can bolt an S5 manifold and turbo to my motor. It would also be great to know how much I can expect to pay for a good condition used one... :Wconfused
