Speedometer

i have an 88 rx-7 convertible and the rpm gauge is working fine but the speedometer and odometer are not working i'm wondering if anyone would know what may be causing it

keep in mind i have already taken the gauge cluster out and checked the cable behind it it was firmly placed in so i unplugged it and cleaned it but, still no results

probably disconnected at the transmission or the cable is broken internally

how would i go about fixing the cable internally?

You don't. You would just buy a new one to replace it.

It will take more time to remove the gauge cluster to get to the back of the gauges than it will to do any other part of the swap.

Maybe an hour total time.

Removing the gauge cluster is a pain in the ass. The electrical plugs are very difficult to pull out, and the speedometer cable limits how much room you have to move around. It's just enough to jam your left arm in there.

Like Icemark said, everything else will be easy. Just watch out when you unscrew the cable from the transmission, or you'll get oil all over yourself.
