Spark Plugs
I've been looking around online and I've read that cutting the washer off the spark plugs enhancing performance and raises compression in the engine a little bit. Is this true?
|
Compression is raised by an insignificant amount, so no.
And you do not want to do this on your trailing plugs. |
What would happen if I did that to my trailing plugs?
|
If the plugs are too long they can break the rotor housing.
|
oh shit, that's no good. i already did it before i got the chance to read this but it's been a few weeks and everything is fine. i got a new tps on the car and it's running better then it ever has before so i'm stoked.
|
also dont forget to put some antiseize on your plugs. !
|
im new to rotarys and tryin to learn fast but side by side i cant tell by lookin how can i tell which are the trailing plugs
|
They are marked, first of all.
On the engine, leading = lower, trailing = top. |
nah, is there a difference in the plugs i know where they go.
|
Yes, there is a difference. Stock trailing plugs are colder than leading plugs (heat index of 9 vs. 7).
|
i know the placement and which plug is which but by looking at them i cant tell why they are different i just ment do they create a different spark or do they recieve a different voltage
can the ignition system from the fc be used on the fd swap???? |

ignition
i have a mines ecu for the 13b-rew but does any one know where i can find a wiring diagram for an fd so i can start making the harness for it. i have a diagram for the fc just waiting on the other.

Leadings are 7s, trailings are 9s. From their outward appearance they look the same save for the part number and the T or L marking. can the ignition system from the fc be used on the fd swap????

I just verified this on my housing while doing the rebuild. It has enough clearance on both leading and trailing plugs, so if ever cut them both have no worry!:icon_tup:
Still, there is no reason to remove the sealing washer. After all, it is there to seal. |
