Snapped alternator belt on my NA FC - Not alligned correct?

Hi guys,

I have a stock NA RX 7 FC from 89. It has only approx. 55.000 miles on the clock (82.000 km), and drives pretty well.

I resently saw a lot of rubber dust in the engine compartment, and thought it was from the alternator belt. It then started squeeling a couple of days ago, and the yesterday it snapped. I think the dust may be caused because of either a worn out belt, or a mis-alligned alternator. What do you guys think?

I need to go to my local part store today, but the belt is wrecked, so i can't read the part number. Do you guys know the part number I want to have some info on hand before getting to the store (Getting parts for an RX 7 here in Denmark is like going to you great grandpa to get help downloading app's for your I phone = They don't have a clue!) :)

I have attached a picture of the engine bay.

Thanks!

Steffen.

Check pulley alignment with a straight edge. Is the alternator bearing loose? Or the water pump bearing?

The '86 alternator belt is 381A-18-8311 . But you can just use a piece of string to get the approximate length, and go to the auto parts store for any V-belt that matches.
