smoke from engine bay

I guess Im just a little concerned because I just purchased this 95 FD and Its never been modified except the Tanabe exhaust. Clean title, etc. Only problem has come up just once..
When I drove it from Los Angeles to San Francisco (approx 450 miles), after i parked it in my garage, when I shut it down, I noticed white smoke coming from the engine bay. I let it idle for a while before I shut it down, however, this was a 6 hour drive. Other than that, everything has been okay.

Any ideas what I might have happened? Could I have damaged anything? Its all Stock under the hood

you should check the engine for any signs of leaking of oil or coolant on the engine itself.
It should not be smoking, and that is a sign of something leaking out and creating fumes to let you know that.

I didn't notice any leaks yet however I know it got an oil change right before the 6 hour trip. I wonder if some oil got spilt. This was the only time that the smoke problem happened

Nevermind. I think your right. Check out these pics I took on my cameraphone. I have no idea what part of the car this is. Its on the passanger side of the motor. I can't tell if this is part of the turbos or what. I guess I'm gonna have to take it into a rotary mechanic. Heartbreaking because I just bought this thing on Saturday.

That doesn't need a Rotary mechanic..that needs a Clamp.
those spring type clamps are crap..get a Fuel injection clamp IF possible for that size of hose.If not a regular worm gear type clamp will work.
Assuming that it is Coolant, make sure the engine is Cold when replacing it and have rags under it when disassembling.

On the picture I took, can you see underneath the excess oil all over that metal thing? Not the hose. I'm trying to figure out what part that is. I think its the Y pipe. Any ideas?

Also I just remembered that I did smell a burning oder after I pushed it hard to redline in 4th gear. I wonder if there was too much oil and some that got blown out of the engine. I checked the oil before the drive and it was a little past the full line. After the trip, it read about 3/4 full. Since then, I drove it hard a few times on shorter drives and never had any problems. Oil level has been steady also.

The smoke more then likely came from the oil spilling on the motor/ hot areas. It dosent seem to be an extremely hard fix.

Thanks for your help you guys. I'm gonna take it in tomorrow anyways to get the whole thing looked over. Possibly get some reliability mods and hoses changed out

After the multipoint inspection by Rick's Rotary in Pleasington CA, the verdict is

The oil level sensor shows signs of minor leaks. And they recommended new rear lower control arm bushings due too some squeak noises. Other than that, I'm pleased to say that my car checked out really good. Making 10 8.5 10 boost!

Good to hear it was a easy fix not a full rebuild
