Slow dim headlight
Hey guys, ive read through some of the threads here and have had some luck on where the headlight ground is located. However i couldn't find any pictures. Im trying to find the exact location of the headlight ground for the right headlight. Any and all help is and will be greatly appreciated.

I recently started having a problem with my driver's side headlight. It was popping up very slowly or sometimes not at all. If it did pop up, the light was significantly dimmer than the other side. I have seen several posts by people trying to fix this exact problem. However, I couldn't find anyone who specified exactly which connector definitely causes this problem. Well at least not the connector that was bad in my case.
After a couple hours of tracing and replacing grounds, I found the culprit... JC-01. You can find this one on pages Y-2 and Y-3 of the Body Electric Manual. Since I have a Greddy FMIC, it was really tough to find. It was sandwiched between the frame and the top-back of the FMIC. I cut the old corroded connector off and soldered a new ground lug on. I then sanded off a patch of paint nearby and bolted it to the frame (you probably have several pre-tapped holes near the hood latch that would work great). The headlight is now working perfectly! While I was at it, I also replaced JC-02 which provides ground for the passenger side headlight among other things. I strongly recommend checking/replacing your ground connectors when you have your car apart. There are at least 16 of these according to the FSM. I know others have found similar improvements when replacing the fuel pump ground. Why not make your interior lights a little brighter next time you have the seats out :) |
https://cimg6.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.rx7...7fb0fb4af.jpeg I saw this, I looked there and I saw the black connecter, it ran to a piece of plastic to maybe a ground, but I’m not sure. |
I have a similar issue with my 93 FD and can’t locate the ground. Hoping this thread will help. |

The two pics above are from inside the front bumper pointing back toward the engine compartment. |
On mine there’s a small amount of rust on the threads of the bolt and paint on the contact points. I’m going to try cleaning them off and see if that improves the headlights. |
Remove
Mine is RHD not that it should matter. What parts did you remove to get to it? |

Tflash21 you maybe able to remove the upper bumper mount bolts (shown in pic) to give you enough room to get in there. But if you need to do some grinding or wire brush work to clean up the ground contacts it might prove to be a little difficult. |

Just as another possibility of the lurking electrical gremlin...I found water and significant corrosion in this relay panel. https://cimg2.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.rx7...7c39194fb.jpeg |
Thank
You’re awesome. I’ve searched everywhere and didn’t find any pictures. Thanks again. |
