simple question....

I have a 91 RX7. My high beams(my secondary headlights...thats what i call them, the little lights under the pop ups) dont stay on. I know they work when the headlight is down but I have to hold the switch for it to turn on. Is this a relay? or is that the way its suppose to be?

Sounds like it is operating as it should.

When you pull the lever with the headlights down, they will shine through the flash-to-pass lenses for a long as the lever is pulled.

When the headlights are turned on and popped up, no light will shine through the FTP lenses as there isn't actually a bulb back there.

When you pull the lever with the headlights on, the high beams should stay on until you pull the lever again.

thats the name i was looking for lol (flash to pass)...well i know that the FTP lenses work off the actual head light but i thought that you can keep them on by pulling the lever once and then shuting them off until its pulled again (like the high beams) and by the way when i have my acutal headlights up/on my highbeam doesnt work either not even if i hold the lever....what do you think it is?

It's hard for me to understand what you are asking due to the way you type. I think you are saying that even with the headlights up, pulling the lever does not lock the high beams on.

In that case, replace the turn signal switch. There is a little solenoid and catch that may have worn out.

Also, for good measure, check the headlight relays.

the high beams dont stay on when the headlights are off... they only stay on when the actual headlights are up and on....
