Should I get her?
Hey guys I am currently in contact with a local seller about his Rx7.
It is a 82 GSL with the following mods Rebuilt Stock Port 12a built with S3 rotors and counterweights (lightest 12a rotors) Sterling 465cfm modified carburetor with mechanical secondaries Carter fuel pump Holley low pressure fuel regulator with gauge New fuel filter 2nd Gen leading direct fire ignition 2nd Gen engine fuse block GSL-SE oil cooler Distributor cap and rotor NGK spark plugs NGK spark plug wires GM 105 amp alternator Dual belt alternator pulley Exedy clutch Racing Beat stainless steel oil hoses ($135 new) Racing Beat aluminum flywheel (12lb) ($505 new) Racing Beat airbox w/ K&N filter ($98.50 new) Racing Beat full performance exhaust ($745 new) Racing Beat front and rear sway bars ($350 new) Racing Beat rear springs ($88 new) Racing Beat strut tower brace ($298 new) Racing Beat Power Slot front brake rotors ($264 new) KYB rear shocks The only thing is the interior is currently bare metal. He has all the parts to go back in but how hard do you guys think it would be? How much would a good shop charge to reinstall the entire interior? Btw the car will cost me 4000$ Canadian good deal or bad? |
putting the interior back together is pie. if youve never done it it might take some dissasembly and re-assembly to figure out which parts need to go on first, but its pretty straightforward on these old tin can rockets.
if you were to have a shop do it expect 3-4 hours of labor depending on what he has taken out...if he has EVERYTHING including the whole dash framing and steering/pedals/etc then it could be longer. not too sure about the price, sounds like quite a bit of money dumped into racing beat parts though. wonder why he only got the rear suspension instead of all 4 though lol |
Ya everything is out including dash. Completely bare metal. But you say it shudnt be hard? And BTW he does have front strusts on it i forgot to list them Tokico 5-way adjustables:) Thanks for the quick reply
if you have to re-wire everything it could be a pain in the ass. but putting all the pieces back in isnt too hard, it will just take you some time and a lot of patience and even more finicking (mainly with the dash area, installing all the carpet/panels/trim is pretty straightforward)
Alright because Ive got the entire summer to work on it and a few helping hands willing to pitch in. But I have been told I would need to have the instrument cluster done professionally would this be a good idea?
if you know what you're doing you shouldn't have a problem wiring it up. worst that could happen is your gauges go crazy/dont work lol.
I generally plan to blow at least 2 fuses during electrical projects. Of course, I also have the bad habit of diagnosing and disassembling at the same time.
Sweet thanks for the help guys I think I can do it. I mean I have the time and who cares if you dont know how fast your going ;)
youd have to really screw up for the speedo to not work lol its just a cable that runs from your transmission to the back of the gauge cluster
and if you get stuck on anything just do like all of us do, and come ask about it here :) |
do it haynes!
haynes is useless for interior parts lol. does have full wiring diagrams though
