should i buy rtek.
 

hey guys due to u.s economy being high and our cad being low i can't afford most standalones ecu leaving me with rtek as one my options. Im only looking on going stage 3 do you think rtek is a good way to go and why.

Define "stage 3", as depending on the company, platform, and what the weather is like that day, "stages" can vary considerably.

As a general rule of thumb, Rtek is fine for a mild build and if you're tuning yourself. Almost no profession tuner is going to touch it, it's a pain in the ass to work with, is outdated, and the tuneability/functionality is limited.

If stage 3 means a fairly extensive build and Rtek is all you can afford, chances are you wont even complete the build on such a budget.

I just found out about the subforums there an rtek one also. my idea of stage 3 is achieving around 280-300hp. U think it possible with a to4b and some large injectors

Plenty of people have hit that goal with Rtek, myself included. It's a fine stepping stone for something in that power range, but was very happy the day I got rid of it. Have never looked back.

what ecu do you have now and is it reliable

Adaptronic. My Rtek had dumped it's map, on two separate occasions, leaving me stranded. Granted, that's not "normal" behavior, but you're dealing with a 30 year old ECU. The Adaptronic has never had so much as a hiccup. Take from that what you will.

You can get close to that on stock twins and stock injectors...so yes.

At that power level, a hybrid stock turbo would do the job and bolt right on.
