Short shifter won't shift reverse

1 Attachment(s)
Hey guys I just recently got a Corksport short shifter and for some reason when I install it, it'll cycle through all gears 1-5 but won't go into reverse. When I try, it seems as though there's a non existent reverse, like it hits a wall. The weird thing is when I put my old shifter in, all gears work including reverse. My car is a 1987 N/A. I was told it might have something to do with the shape of ball bearing at the bottom. I want to see if I can get it to work before I throw in the towel and send it back. I'll attach a picture to show the difference in shifter shape.

My shifter came with the manual and I already called them about the issue earlier today. I'm just hoping to see if I can find some kind of solution to my problem because they suggest I send it back for inspection.

Ok..
then Try this.
Take the shifter back out.
.................................................. ............................(just screwing with ya....)....AND
Now, take the 10mm bolts and place a flat washer Between the "plate"(round shifter plate with 3 holes for the bolts) and the Transmission mounting area( where that plate would sit when you have the shifter Ready to put the 3 bolts in.

So in essence you would see it like this:
round shifter plate with bolts
flat washers
trans.

Be CAREFUL not to drop the washers into the Trans hole.

Basically you are using the flat washers to lift that round shifter plate so that it takes pressure OFF the Shifter bushing and assembly.
NOTE: sometimes when you crank the shit out of those 3 bolts the shifter will bind.Using something to lift the plate UP will take the pressure of of everything.

Any idea if they make their shifters differently depending on the engine/transmission type?

Fc shifters
Fd shifters.

I've had to "finesse" a couple of those Ebay types and finally settled on the C's shifter (not Corksport).
I found that method I mentioned works rather well, and it all depends on make.Trust me I went through a "shifter phase" just like "oh,I want more power"..and I found that it depends entirely on what you buy.
I saw a SIG that said: "it may say Plug and play but it is not"..I agree, sometimes it is File,sand,cut,place..Shit..arghhh..and finally..YESSSSS!

Send them back the shifter?..duh..easy way out for them.Have you noticed there is not many working parts involved?.
Who wants to spend any more money on postage?.They got that "excuse" down pat..
