SEEKING ADVICE and mechanical help

Since I have no tools my work is limited. guess I will have to build my arsenal of tools as time passes...

today while on my way to work my brake pedal became hard as a rock when I pressed on it, since this is my first time trying to do my own work I will have to give in and see a "real" mechanic to see what’s going on. this car is my Daily Driver so I cant take the chance of something going extremely bad and not having transportation.

The car stays Idle at about 1100k - 1300k RPM even after driving for a while thats not normal is it? I also noticed some leakage just under the coolant filler cap.

I am new to VA "Fort Eustis area" so I do not know what near by shops are credible. A shop that knows about the Mazda RX7 family is what I am looking for.

what I really want is to be able to work with a knowledgeable person/shop on my car so that I can learn. this way not only can I save $$$ but I can build credit with a shop and eventually offer my help as well.

if any one can help me I would appreciate it

A shop will never let you work with them unless you get a job there, the liability is too huge. To find a shop your best bet is to poke around the VA sub forum with a search.

The forum also provides plenty of information for a do it yourself, but as you said if its your daily driver it may not be the best.
