Dunno who else is in Scotland, but hopefully you can find a mazda dealer that can do a compression test. That's always good to know for an engine that isn't running well.

What are the symptoms?

rx7 problem

I have done a compression test and jimmys rx7 say it seems fine. the cars at 85 thousand miles and the owner told me it has had a rebuild. What its doing is its cutting out on some gears, in second it revs all the way and in 3rd and 4th it cuts out at 5000rpm for a split second then goes again but wont go past 5000. In 5th it went past 5000rpm and i got to about 5500 and was doing 140mph so i thought i better slow down:lol:so i dont know when it tops out in 5th:dunno:

So your problem then is the engine cutting out.

What is your boost reading when it cuts out? Do you have a boost gauge installed?

Just a guess but check under it and have the transmission checked to see if the gears are stripped at all. (this could happen if your going slow in one and shift then punch it in the next) iv seen some that are messed up in gears before. its not good looking. that may be it.....

Rx7 problems

Im going to buy a boost gauge to see what its boosting at. I dont think its the gear box because the car was fine when i first had it. Seems like its fuel or electric?:dunno: need to get a boost gauge first!
