is this an s5 motor?

im looking to pick up a 13bt and wanted confirmation that this was an s5 motor. the uim hints me that it is but just wanted to be sure since im new to these engines.

also, any tips welcome on buying used 13b's, i already plan on a rebuild before putting it in. mainly anything i should look out for, and how to visually spot s4 and s5 motors (i know theres threads on this stuff but maybe info using these pics on why should/shouldnt jump on this one lol)

going by the upper coolant neck, i'd say it's an s4. i believe the s5 has 3 bolt flange and plastic.

it looks to be s5 with the aluminum thermostat cover neck mazdatrix sells. s4 has the cap on its thermostat cover. i have the mazdatrix aluminum neck on my s5 in black like this one. his seems to be the oem plastic though judging by the brownish color where the hose connects to. my oem plastic neck was the same brownish color since the black had been removed

Hmmm.
Plastic filler neck.(the 3rd bolt is usually hidden)
No Twin scroll actuator on the manifold
Electric OMP.

Double check the spark plug side.If it has one threaded hole above each Trailing plug for knock sensors then then it is an S5 Engine.

But to me,that there IS an S5 TII engine.

thanks guys. would this be a good pickup? the warehouse showed me a video of it have ~90psi compression on a 3 sides of both rotors and will gladly show one in person when i decide to buy it.

should i let those rusty block off plates (i think thats what they are) kinda turn me away from it? it looks scary haha
kinda tells me its been like sitting outside or something unless those are prone to rusting quickly like the heatshield.

If you look closely on the Upper intake, the BAC valve has a red sticker with a brown cap which tells you that it is indeed an s5 tii engine. S4 engines would have a BLUE capped BAC with a silver sticker

Also the turbo. Set up for the S5 boost solenoid. S4 would have both a twin scroll actuator and the wastegate line would connect directly to the compressor housing.
