S4 - S5 TII intakes hp difference?
 

Hi , I'm wondering if there is any HP gain in switching my S4 turbo intake for the S5 one?
I'm installing a fmic so I dont have to worry about the top mount not fitting.
I searched around and found a ton of info on N/A intakes and the TII having a slightly bigger bore but couldnt find if there was any performance gains.

Without port matching the end plate intake ports to match, I'd say you're looking at a negligible flow difference.

No, there is no documented difference between the two. As mentioned above, port matching can show some gains, but they are so insignificant that the work is not usually performed on street cars. I think your best bang for the buck is a custom TID. See "Turbo inlet duct" in this link:

Also, when making your FMIC plumbing, try to keep bends to a minimum. This will result in less pressure loss and a faster boost rise. Although you may not want to go through this much work, a horizontal-mounted intercooler can eliminate two 90deg bends vs. a FMIC. See an example in the below link and notice how the pipes come straight in and out of the intercooler.

Hearing that there is very little to gain I'll stick with my S4 intake. The TID was the first thing I did when i purchased the car. The stock "S" was badly cracked and had been poorly repaired. Plus it helped to clean up the look of the engine bay. The horizontally mounted IC is a work of art!! really WOW.. I bet if he made kits he could sell quite a few. I already have my FMIC sourced so I'll probably just install it up front, trying to keep the number of bends to a minimum.
