Rx7 Series 4 FC "88

Hey All,

Just wanted to get some advice. I'am looking at a mint Rx7 Series 4 FC 1988 but the current owner has filled the engine with oil to presurve it as it has been sitting for a while. Will this have damaged it at all? Also anything to look for when going to view it, any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

What do you mean fill it with oil to preserve it? Like the engines full of oil up to the oil filler cap….?

If it doesn’t run, should pull 1 spark plug out from each rotor and crank it by hand to listen to compression pulses.

The details were pretty vage, and I was told it would be running when I go and have a look. I just have never heard or couldnt find any informaiton about why.
Also thanks will do I was going to do a compression test when I see it as well.

welcome to the board. :)

i think the best thing for you is find out exactly what he did. where exactly did he put the oil and how much?

my guess is that he probably put some oil in the chambers because he mentioned the car "sitting for a while", but he also used the word "filled", so either way, clarification is needed. these days it's probably better to assume the worst and hope for the best. :)
