Rx7 rolls in gear, engine turns
Hi, i was in my car this morning and i hadnt set the parking brake like i normally do but i let off the brake. After i did this it started rolling, and i had looked at the engine while a friend let of the brake and the engine was turning not the clutch slipping. I had found a thread for the fd's on this issue and it was rather controversial that it wasn't normal and it had bad compression or that it was normal because rotaries didn't have enough compression to hold the car without the E-brake. Does anybody have some true insight as to wether this is normal or not and if not then what can be wrong as my younger brother is learning manual in this and i make him use the E-brake but i dont want something else to go wrong if its a problem such as low/bad compression.

Any manual car while left in gear on a steep enough grade will roll the engine over
If your super worried about compression, just check it, its easy to do |
The E brake is also known as a PARKING Brake.
It is called that as you should engage it when Parking. The engine is NOT meant to hold the car stationary. TIP: if you get in a situation where your car "rolled" and hit someone...YOU are to blame..(insurance and legally) |
As stated before any manual will turn, this is also not the best thing for any motor.
