RX7 No Start with Starting fluid

Hey guys Taylor here,

I had a quick question. I bought a 1987 Rx7 the guy was going to put a fuel cell in it. It doesn’t have a fuel pump or fuel tank in it. I have spark, but it seems when I spray start fluid through the intake that it is not making it to the spark plug. Do I need to remove spark plugs and spray starting fluid in the hole there. Or what can I do. I believe since the fuel pump isn’t there that the injectors aren’t getting commanded to open so when I spray through the intake it’s not making it to the spark plug. Thanks in advance.

Injectors have nothing to do with it. If the engine has compression, it should have vacuum...and the starting fluid will get where it needs to go.

Doing a compression check is a good idea. Like Sgtblue said, the injectors have nothing to do with it in this case since you're trying to start with starting fluid.

Otherwise I would make sure all the spark plugs are actually firing, not just one or two. When you say you are spraying starting fluid, where into the intake are you spraying it?
