Rx7 need to crank a while to turn on.
I have an S5 Rx7 and recently changed the water thermosensor, after I did this the AWS doesn't kick in anymore, and I have to crank for about 5 secs so the car will start, I had the code that my water thermosensor was bad so I changed it also have code 1 and have the pressure sensor code which I am going to change this week since I'm waiting for it to come in the mail. Now my questions are why does it take long to turn on? And can the Thermosensor make that difference for it to not want to turn on right away? The old thermosensor I had didn't do this, but was bad because it made the car have lots of fuel cut off.

The AWS won't kick in anyways. It is too hot outside for that where you are.Anyways it is garbage,so it can be removed.(make a small plate for the manifold).
Check your Afm connections. |
I'm thinking it may be the water thermosensor again, my friend (whose a mechanic) assumes that the water thermosensor is not telling the computer to throw enough gas and throws too little and that's why I have to crank for a longer time or even twice to get it on, on a cold start and I live in Cali, whether in the morning is about 55-65 degrees. Btw the water thermosensor was a universal one maybe that's the problem? I'm thinking of just buying the one Mazdatrix sells their a 7 min drive from me. Because the old original one didn't give me this problem but did give me a gas cut off in a long drive.

The thermosensor will absolutely make a difference. If the ECU doesn't know the temperature of the engine, it will default to about 80 degrees, making cold starts difficult. Since you also mention codes relating to the pressure sensor, I'd suggest checking your grounds:
Proper RX-7 Grounding Procedures Bad grounds will cause the water thermo sensor to read incorrectly as well as cause issues with all other sensors (such as the pressure sensor). |
Thank you for confirming that. And I've checked all of the grounds already and cleaned them. The pressure sensor code is there because the car has the incorrect one if I'm correct it has an S4 pressure sensor. The thermo sensor is universal it had the original one but that one made the car bog crazy. Now that I've changed it it doesn't bog but takes awhile to start so l've come to conclude on that part that it needs the original one since it looks like this universal one is just not sending enough fuel at start up.
