RX7 FD water in engine

Hello,

In October, I bought a RX7 FD from Britain. In 2009 the company made overhaul in the UK , yet not mention the company name.
The car I drove approx. 1000 km. Before each ride, I checked the oil and water level. I had to water regularly topped up using about. 0.2 l. Car doesn´t smoked and started well, so I paid no attention.
During a car ride I got to 120 degrees Celsius. I immediately shut down and waited for her to cool down. I refilled one liter of water and slowly wandered into the garage. The temperature was kept throughout the 86 degrees celsius.
At home, I took off the exhaust manifold and the hand spinning rotor. From the combustion chamber spilled water. Pressures measured and are good.
I motor slowly demount. Do you think it will be bad just water seal? The oil doesn´t loosing.
Sorry for my bad english.

WTF ?

Jak se mas? Don't worry about your English, it's better than some posts here from those with English as a first language. And way better than my Czech.

You have a coolant seal failure which will require disassembly of the engine. I would suggest not waiting too long to fix it. Having coolant sit in the grooves of the side plates can cause rust and make the side plates unusable.
You might look up a member named Metan here on the forum. He's also from the Czech Republic and may be able to help you find a reliable mechanic or give advice with the rebuild.

In this week i wont to complete dismantle the engine.

Good progress. Looks like a previous owner installed a lightened flywheel. :icon_tup:
A couple of tips....that front hub bolt can be really hard to remove. If you haven't gotten it off yet, I strongly recommend using a 6-sided wrench or socket...not 12 sided. Those can slip and round off that nut.

Coolant seal

Might be the coolant seal those tend to fail after some time

Motor disassembled. You can see broken seal and corrosion from water.

The rotors with bearings are fine. Bearings in stationary gear looks bad.

When I slow start to move, i heard noise from gearbox. The sound came from the gearbox, which brushed the body see photo

Boys nicely blinded EGR. Only one screw from 3 to split them and bother them unscrewed and rewind thread. It seems that the resulting flue gas leak leaked and possibly i nespálený olej.

Now I´am choosing APEX seals, side seals and corner seals:
1. RA super seals RA Super Seals
2. Atkins Apex seals 86-95 Rx7 13B 2mm Atkins Apex Seal Set (ARE13-2)
3. 86-95 Rx7 13B Side Seal Set (N3Y1-11-C11)
4. 86-95 Rx7 13B 2mm Solid Corner Seal Set (ARE88)

Do You know why my old corner seal broke up?
This is old power graph.

I posted in your other Thread,Matty.
look at these:https://www.rx7club.com/vendor-class...-seals-946394/

Mattyno 01-11-14 12:57 PM

Old corner seal is destroyed due to the detonation?
That is why I will refuel high-octane gasoline to prevent detonation.
Filling pressure I do not want to reduce.

I ordered the RA super seal + springs.
From banzai new ast + oil pan brace.
From Atkins every seals and all other necessary parts.
I ordered the small things in Mazda in the Czech Republic.

I hope that in March the engine will be ready.
Do you know what runout mm will be the bearing in the clutch shaft in the gearbox? In the manual, I don´t found it.

Not sure exactly which bearing you're referring to. If it's the pilot bearing or throw-out bearing (which disengages the clutch) I recommend just replacing both. There is no spec as far as I know. They simply make noise when they fail. They don't cost much.

reclaimer auto 01-12-14 05:52 AM

My last motor did that! Atkins took a bunch of my money but fixed it. How much did it cost you?
