Rx7 fc s4 idles at 2-3k rpms warm
when starting it in the morning my car will go through the accelerated warm up system like usual and warm up but will retain a high idle
anywhere from 2k to 3.5k when fully warm i know its not the tps and the maf is fine i checked |
Throotle cable could be too tight. Fast Idle Cam could not be rotating properly. Throttle plates could be stuck open. Door to the AFM might be stuck open. You could try pressing upwards on the throttle linkage located in front of the throttlebody near the TPS as this should help to lower the idle speed. And the BAC/Air Bypass Valve could be problematic.

how could i check if it is the the fast idle cam?
|
By pressing upwards on the throttle linkage in addition to eyeing the thermowax piston as it should extend outwards as the car warms up.
|
What is the fast idle can I can't find it
|
On the rear of the throttlebody and closer to the passenger side of the engine. The piston has an upside down screw touching it. The screw is part of the throttle linkage. If you placed a rather large vacuum hose cap on the screw it would force down the throttle linkage and close the throttle plate.
Sevice manual has all of this information. http://foxed.ca/index.php?page=rx7manual#secondgen |
my car has a somewhat similar issue of idling at 1200 unless i push down the throttle manually, it goes down to 750, and will stay, until i rev it up then when it comes back down it will go back down to 1200?????

Throttle cable/throttle plates could be sticking.

would you recommend taking the throttle body off and cleaning the internals with carb cleaner?

View My Video
Here's a video of the idle |
Besides taking a video of your idle have you done anything suggested?
|
We swapped out the throttle body didn't work
And then we swapped out the bac valve Didn't work I'm gonna try to swap out the maf sensor soon |
Swapping the maf didn't do anything
Idling at 3k |
Perhaps you should try checking the timing. And you might want to check the Air Bypass Solenoid as it has two wires. One is B/W and the other is Brown/Yellow. The Br/Y wire should have 12 volts to it after a cold engine has been started and 17 seconds of time has eclipsed. During the first 17 seconds it could have close to zero voltage.

where is the air bypass solenoid located? |
Next to the other solenoids.
