hi guys, im new to the forum, i found out about you guys thanks to a friend of mine, cutting to the chase i want to ask about the s13b,

Im looking into and fd that has a blown motor, and another one that has 95,000 mile with the oriniginal motor, i will like to find out what you guys think aobut it, if i get the blown motor is cheaper but how hard to get a new motor, or it better to rebuild the same one?
Or maybe is just better to get running car, but how long is it going to last me before i have to put a new motor in it? I usually see 100,000 miles and that a second motor in the car, whats the life spand of a car that had good care has?

At 95000 miles it’s going to need a motor soon. A rebuilt motor from Mazda was running around 4000 with gaskets and incidentals and tax, a few months ago here. You’re in California so options for shops and suppliers will be much better. So look at the whole car not just the motor.
Realistically one should figure one 5 grand, maybe more if the turbos can’t be rebuilt and need to be replaced.

fd RX7’s are solid cars and very restorable, there are lots of parts still out there, and once finished they are a blast to drive and own.

Read the FAQ’s in this section and go in eyes wide open.

If you’re looking for a driver and not a project, it might be better to spend the money on one that has already been finished, i.e. motor, upgrades, etc…. the total will be less than the sum of parts.
