RI RX Convertible window regulator

Hi
I have meant to do this for the longest time..Ironically it was a birthday notice from the RX Club that triggered me to ask for help in the RX forum.
I have a 1988 (owned since new) RX 7 Convertible.
I have a non-working window regulator on the drivers side .
Switches are working. My problem is that the dealer tells me that there is one regulator left in the country! And it will cost $500.00 or so for the part.
I have tried all the parts sites and coming up dry.
Is there anyway to
a) repair the existing regulator?
2) locate a replacement in some other way that is just escaping me right now.
Thanks for any and all help.
Richard

if you want to send it to me i could rebuild it, might take a few weeks to make the 3D printed parts and get the appropriate cables.

Have same problem on mine. Came up empty on new parts in US but Mazda claims they have one in Canada, asking about $650. Qualityautoparts.com said they have used one - first asked $360 but came down to $200 - ref: WEB1013632508. Warning, Mazda wanted to compare VIN numbers so more then one version might have been used. I chose to send mine to powerwindowrepair.com to be fixed for $180 plus shipping. Just sent mine out, but they seem professional, friendly and responsive.

Hi Joe
Drivers side is what I need ...not sure when you say "set" that you are referring to both passenger side and drivers side. I think you are but just to be sure.
Cost please.
Thanks

Richard,

Some additional thoughts. If the motor is bad I think the cost is more, but if the only problem is the motor there may be other options. You can check the motor by opening the connector and apply 12 volts to the contacts...reverse polarity to test other direction. Turn around with shipping is about 2 weeks. My repair shop is playing games with price and their warranty as they are not providing the part and if there are problems their additional labor may not be covered. As Power Window Repair does the complete job in Arizona I asked what a fair remove and replace charge would be. I believe Power Window Repair has a lifetime warranty on their work minus shipping and R&R. Finally, as $30 is worth saving the U. S. Postal Service has large flat rate boxes that will work well but not all post offices carry them. The standard large box that they do carry will not work. You may have to request the other size. As my car is in the shop awaiting parts, I used a larger box they had which I paid for, the package now went by weight with an oversized surcharge, and the extra weight and possibly cost for additional packing material which doubled the cost. I also sent pictures of the parts first showing what appeared to be broken and they checked the pictures and gave the go ahead to ship the part. They are very helpful and nice to work with.

labor to remove and replace only?

i can do it in 5 minutes.

should be at most 1 hour labor, so that price is steeeeeep. i only charge $50 and i still feel a little guilty at that price.
