Replacing Cats on a GSL-SE

I acquired a gorgeous 1985 GSL-SE recently and I've slowly been doing things to it to make sure it runs the way it should. When I took it for state inspection, I was told I had an exhaust leak. Ran to the muffler shop and they welded me in a whole new main pipe from Cats to Muffler, leaving the flanges. While it was on the lift, the guy doing the work told me that the cats were SUPER hot and probably were holding the engine back. The car has 70k on it.

So, while I was waiting for my quick fix, I ordered this: RX7.COM 1979-1985 Rx7 Exhaust (330)7-ROTARY
It's the system that replaces all three cats with a high flow converter and a silencer.

Due to my complete "lack of knowledge" I'm curious to know if I will need to do anything else in regards to possible adjustments after this is installed. If anyone else has used this system or something similar, please let me know and thank you in advance. BTW, the car as of right now runs like a dream IMO but then again, I've never owned a rotary and it's running that way because of a fuel tank drain and new fuel filter along with plugs and wires.

Oh, and while I'm posting, where on earth do you get your air filters?

K&N makes a good filter for the GSL-SE.

Based on the description of this exhaust, it doesn't look like you need to do anything else for it to function correctly.

Got the new system in today. Almost zero difference in sound but, the car seems to have a bit more pep. Guess it's breathing better. If anyone was in the same boat as me, I highly recommend this system from rx7.com

Now just waiting for my 33-2016 to get here..

looks great! Rotaries usually run hot in the exhaust (I assume it's b/c there's more un-burnt hydrocarbons)...I like to wrap my exhaust in header wrap and/or a heat shield. Especially if your interior floor gets hot.
