Refitting transmission to engine

This may sound like a stupid question but im removing my engine and gearbox to do some work and replace my clutch when it come to putting the gearbox back on the engine is there anything that needs to be done to get the clutch to work correctly i know you havr to release the collar in order to split the box from the engine but when refitting do you have to do the opposite?

Your profile lists a FD.
No, you don't have to release the collar a second time. When the transmission bellhousing is fully mated but maybe not fully bolted down, I usually give a good pull and push on the shifter fork to re-seat the throw-out bearing and make sure it's seated.

You might do a search in the 3rd Gen technical section for related threads with tips for the first-timer. There are also things like pilot bearings, throw-out (release) bearings and a couple seals that are typically recommended to be replaced with a clutch replacement.
If the engine is being pulled there are also some videos out there that might help.
