rebuild turbo problem
i had a turbo rebuild for a 87 fc and still smoking alote and oil is coming out of the exhaust is the turbo just bad its self?

You won't really know until the oil has been burnt out by the previous mishap with your turbo.
If it put oil in your exhaust,it just doesn't disappear when you replace the bad part. It stays there until it gets burned off and that can be a while. |

i understand and mostly agree with what you said, but i have a question: wouldn't he be able to tell if he pulls the downpipe and looks at the new turbine? the old oil in the exhaust pipes shouldn't backflow and if there's oil on the turbine blades, wouldn't that give be evidence for further investigation? |
I was going to state that..but if he hasn't run it a long period of time maybe it is just to early.
That is what I was assuming. Most guys just slap on a new turbo and expect it to be all Hunky Dorey. If the OP thinks that the oil is excessive then YES pull the downpipe and inspect the turbine. |
the turbo i had on b4 was never blown and when i put the one that was a rebuild All this oil was coming out and smoke the guy that rebuild my turbo said i had a lil oil in there and you gotta burned it out and that's what i did but oil was still coming out
is there a difference between a s4 and a s5 turbo |
