Preference
What's the best FC out there? Do you guys prefer a TII over a GTUS?
|
No such thing, its all about personal preference.
All fc's are essentially the same minus differences (motor, and features) Its all about what you want. If you want fun reliability, go n/a, if you want even more fun, but slightly more headaches, go TII |

I'd look for a 5 speed with lsd regardless. IIRC both the GTU and TII will have those.

I think most people will give you different answers. Turbos are preferable in my book, that is unless you have an NA 20b...
|
At this point, nearly any RX-7 you buy is going to have been hacked on by previous idiots, so from a standpoint of which to buy, it will fall to your preference. If you are looking for power, than the TII. If you are looking for a fun reliable car, than NA.

Now,I have been ALL OVER the map with these cars for the last 10 years. I started out N/A,then my Biggest mistake was THIS FORUM....LOL! I started reading HOW TO do this..HOW TO get MORE power..!!! The ONLY Thing that the Information lacks is HOW MUCH it is gonna cost you for that quest for power,.,as Tom Cruise put it : "the need for Speed"! The funny thing is with all that Power, where the Hell are you gonna Use it??..Legally? I am sort of coming around to my senses slowly and I just started parting out my 400 HP TII Swap..built from basically All the INFO right here on the Forum. Now I purchased a 91 N/A (which I said I would Never do because anything after 1987 around here needs an Emissions test.but I got it to pass..Yep,know the cars!). I am taking some of the good stuff and tossing it on the N/A and since it does the 3 things that a Car should do,Which is STARTS/RUNS/DRIVES, I am going to have a car that I can actually USE this summer. I won't have to see Money sitting in the garage collecting dust while other Stuff gets shipped so I can attach it to a Money pit. Moral of the Story?:it is a question Brownies look like cake..Which one tastes better? |
Probably an FC swapped with an LS1! ;)
|
As long as the LS1 swap isn't a hack job. Just as easy, perhaps easier, to hack another engine into the car (especially when it may involve fundamental changes such as mount fabrication and steering rack relocation) as it is to hack a rotary.
Sadly most of the V8 equipped RX-7s I've seen use POS 350 iron blocks, carburetors, and slush boxes. I can only assume the parts came from Bubba's delivery van. |
I'm more partial to the S5, but that's just me. It all depends on what exactly you want. Either way, you are looking at a pretty good amount of work. Remember, you are gonna be buying a 25+ year old car, it's gonna need some lovin! I really wanted to get into turbos, so I went that route. Lucky for me, they're all turbo'd in Japan ;)

Na may be slow but like Styx said you can use the power it has legally lol.
That being said once I find the daily I want my vert is getting more power one way or another... When I have a proper daily driver ...screw reliability I got AAA.😝 |
