Was power steering an option on 2nd gen rx7s?

Mine doesnt have power steering - wondering if the previous owner removed it...

Yes it was available, but not all FCs were equipped.

Curious as to the models, so here they are as listed in Spec section:
86 Std GXL only, N/A Base, Sport
87 Std Sport, GXL, option Turbo
87.5 Std Sport, SE, GXL, option Base, Turbo
88 Option Turbo, Std all other models
89/91 Std on all

All of my rx7 over the years have had power steering. ive owned all fc cars, except my most recent one. When looking I actually wanted one without power steering and found it. So my 1987 base that I own now is a non power steering car. I think AC was actually and option also on some models.

A/C only became std on all models 1991. Up until then it was only std on certain models,
optional on others.

my 87 sport TII had A/C but manual steering.

Way back in '88, the first new TurboII I test drove on the dealer's lot was no-power steering, but the A/C was standard.
Didn't like the car w/o power steering, so purchased a new TII with P/S.
Know a long time ago, but Mazda bought the car back and gave me the '89 TII at dealer's cost......Still have the car.

Why did they do a buy back, or do you mean you traded it. and that is awesome to still own the car.

In reference to the power steering, all the ones I have owned except my current one had power steering, I kind of like the non power steering in the fact that its one less thing to worry about and it seems to have a tight feel to it. As far as comfort, power steering is the way to go. I sure do miss it in slow parking lot maneuvers.
I have a 67 chevelle that I added power steering and power brakes to. It was a must.
