my friend is giving me a good deal $1200 they are new never used what do you guys think?

PBM is a cheapie Asian brand. Although they do not compare with the top racing brands, they should work fine if you are just using your car for drifting or show. Are they the "Competition" or the "Pro" model?

Your "friend" doesn't think very highly of you does he?
My kind advice to you is do not jump on the first thing that pops up.
Do some digging.

I just sold a set of barely used TEIN Coilovers for 600 CDN.
1200 dollars for sub-par coilovers is just plain wrong.

BTW,and please do not take this offensively,if you want to shop for Parts, knock yourself out But try to keep this section for TECH questions and not whether you should by this or that.*(SEE STICKY).
It's your money, your decision. The info about topics like this has usually been posted. It's just a matter of reading and researching.Nobody said it would be easy owning an Rx7,But it's worth it if you know about them, and that is why the info is available and readily accessable on a self serve basis.

As a mod, he does spend significant time in this section. Along with other duties, he tries to help the young, novice and often silly new owners who spend twice as much for half as much just because it's got a cool JDM name.

The PBM "Competition" coilovers retail for $1000 new, and the "Pro" coilovers retail for $1350 USD.

My opinion is that I would rather pay a little more for a nice Koni/Eibach coilover setup that is actually competitive in real racing events, but then again if you are just drifting then the point is to have crappy suspension that makes the car slide so I suppose you may as well save some money and buy the cheapie Asian stuff.

None of us have a life. It's a rotary engine thing. You will soon learn, young one.

iani1.1 12-11-15 11:10 PM

...coilovers are coilovers. Brand name, Ching Chong China shit, race shit it's really all the same on a street car.

Also OP did pay too much for some coils. What a friend he is.

My fault and sorry misty i didnt know you were a moderator but since your are canadian you would understand that our dollar is worth less than american but saving $600 on pro coilovers is a good deal.

Jooiky 02-04-16 06:51 PM

Cost, price and value are three different things. None of them guarantee that those coilovers are a good deal.
