possible engine swap

I own a 1983 RX-7 GSL, I am looking for a few suggestions. first thing is there is no one in the state I live in works on rotary engines, so my question is "What is the most inexpensive and easiest motor to swap in to my car?" I want to leave it as original as possible.

Your answer is in your question.
Another engine from the same car.
Swapping another same type engine is just basically plug and play.
Getting into another series and what not is a little more difficult.

Thank you for your response, I still have the same question because I am unable to find anyone in NM that works on Rotarys anymore and I have all new suspension, new paint newer interior -so haw had would it be to do a rebuild or swap to a 13b from the 12a?

welcome to the board. :)

well, with new suspension and new paint, it sounds like you're dedicated to keeping the car. is that correct?

successfully completing a rebuild is not really that hard. however, it really comes down to your abilities. my (or anyone else) telling you it's not hard is really neither here nor there if you have little or no mechanical inclinations.

as said in misterstyx's post, keeping the 12A is the obvious EASIEST choice. no adaptations required. a FSM and a few other supplemental manuals would walk you through all you need to know to rebuild the engine and carburetor.

a 13B swap complicates things a little, but the engine itself is really not hard to put in the bay.

being some what of a newbie to rotory's my self but have on hear for the last 8 monthes reading all different kind of threads watching how to videos on you tube and speaking with other 7 lovers. id say if you have the time and money rebuild it and since u have it apart it would be the perfect time to port it add a header and webber and call it a day. it'll be a blast to drive and reliable.
