porting

ok, well i finally got my motor from the guys at jdm miami. lookin into buying a rebuild kit from atkins rotary and 2mm seals from rotary aviation. my mechanic suggests all this first off and he'd give me a sweet deal on porting. where my question goes is...i wanna have my car as a daily driver but i dont know if i want go with a fairly large street port or go with a half bridge. i know with the half bridge i gotta up the fuel delivery and a little later i will go with a bnr turbo. since with these ridiculously generous fuel prices, its not really a problem. just lookin for some guys who have a both street and half bridge for dailys and how well they work for you. i just like the BRAP BRAP BRAP from the half-bridge.:icon_tup:

Sounds like you want a street port.

If for no other reason then a bridgeport means a full turbo upgrade.

about how much power could i make on an aggressive street port on a conservative tune. im just looking for good power on a DD without going too crazy on the modifications. aaroncake, you da man.

Good power to you might mean nothing to the next guy. 300whp? 350? 400? With a half bridge or higher you would want to look into a different turbo setup. However, BNR stage 4's with a streeport will get you a good amount of power on a rather conservative tune. A TII Vert just did 361 at I believe 16psi here in St. Louis off of a Steve Kan tune. Oh, but he was running 50/50 meth. inj. and had to ditch his FMIC for the drive home. lol

good power im lookin for about 350-400 hp out of a DD

BlowenByTwins 12-07-08 04:08 PM

go streetport...

bridgeports and half-bridge's would need a single turbo upgrade (something like a GT4088 or bigger) as aaroncake said

On a side note: you'll probably get bored with 350-400rwhp fairly soon and end up wanting more (i did) ;)

a friend of mine daily drives his FD half-bridge w/ GT42R and water/meth inj.
he made over 600rwhp :icon_tup:

You can get to 350-400 out of a streeport and BNR 4's. I am assuming a FC from your sig?

Sol5t1c3 12-07-08 04:45 PM

i was also looking at some to4e turbo for a turbo upgrade. just trying get some info and make a parts list. once i rebuild, all mods on my list are gonna be thrown on. i just want to be careful and tedious with this.

rowtareh? 12-07-08 04:54 PM

Just remember with single turbo's the whole manifold comes into play. :)

Sol5t1c3 12-07-08 05:48 PM

fd manifold here i come?

BlowenByTwins 12-07-08 06:24 PM

not for an FC

best thing to do is get someone to build you a manifold, or just buy a turbo kit with one

i believe the BNR's have integrated manifolds so you wont have to buy one if you go that route they just bolt directly to the exhaust ports

Sol5t1c3 12-07-08 07:07 PM

i belive i'll get a bnr for a while then go with a t04e turbo

rowtareh? 12-07-08 07:10 PM

BNR's are not very much compared to going single turbo, but they are pretty limited when making power....you can only go so much without the turbo's maxing out. They are not very large turbo's.

Sol5t1c3 12-07-08 10:01 PM

i'll keep on checking on which turbo will suit my power needs/limits. theres...just...so...many.

BlowenByTwins 12-07-08 10:31 PM

the BNR's are like having stock turbos but with a little more power

a single turbo would be less complex as far as vacuum lines and make more power

look into the garrett and borg warner turbos

greddy is really outdated and garrett actually designed the turbos for hks so hks is all hype and name when it comes to turbos

Sol5t1c3 12-09-08 08:50 PM

much obliged for all help

Oh and some people make just as much power with street port as they do with half bridge.
